A growing South Wales contractor specialising in refurbishment, energy efficiency and decarbonisation projects is looking to appoint an experienced Mechanical Site Manager to join its team on a permanent basis.
This is a specialist role requiring a strong mechanical building services background and proven experience delivering heating and plantroom projects. Applicants without mechanical M&E experience are unlikely to be considered.
The Opportunity
You will take the lead on the delivery of a significant school decarbonisation programme across Carmarthenshire.
Your initial projects will involve the refurbishment and upgrade of heating systems within three schools, replacing existing oil-fired systems with modern heat pump solutions. Works will include plantroom modifications, mechanical services upgrades and the coordination of specialist subcontractors within live educational environments.
Following these projects, you will move onto additional refurbishment and decarbonisation schemes as part of a secured pipeline of work across South Wales.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing day-to-day site operations on mechanical refurbishment projects
- Leading the delivery of heating system upgrades and heat pump installations
- Overseeing plantroom refurbishment and associated mechanical services works
- Managing mechanical subcontractors, suppliers and direct labour
- Driving programme performance and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time and within specification
- Monitoring quality standards throughout installation and commissioning phases
- Liaising with clients, consultants, school representatives and project stakeholders
- Managing site documentation, inspections and progress reporting
- Coordinating works within occupied school environments whilst minimising disruption
Essential Requirements
- Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP) project experience
- Previous experience as a Site Manager delivering mechanical building services projects
- Strong knowledge of commercial heating systems, plantrooms and associated mechanical services
- Experience managing heating upgrades, boiler replacements, plantroom refurbishments or heat pump installations
- Mechanical background gained with an M&E contractor or building services contractor
- Experience delivering public sector refurbishment projects
- Experience managing subcontractors on live construction projects
- SMSTS
- CSCS Card
- First Aid at Work
- Full UK Driving Licence
Desirable
-Previous build experience within the education sector experience (Schools / Colleges etc)
-Ground Source Heat Pump (GSHP) project experience
-Mechanical engineering qualifications
-Knowledge of energy efficiency, retrofit or decarbonisation programmes

This is a mechanical building services role focused on heating systems, plantroom works and heat pump installations. Site Managers without significant mechanical services exposure are unlikely to be suitable.
