Role Overview
CCL Global is seeking experienced Mechanical Fitters to support a major UK Nuclear engineering programme.
Working alongside Mechanical Technicians and other Fitters, you will provide hands-on mechanical assembly, maintenance and modification support across complex engineering equipment and systems.
Location: Oxfordshire – Full-time onsite
Contract: Until June 2027 (inside IR35)
Security Clearance: BPSS
Key Responsibilities
- Support the maintenance, improvement and modification of mechanical components and equipment.
- Assemble and prepare components in accordance with engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Carry out hands-on mechanical engineering and assembly activities to a high standard of accuracy.
- Read and interpret engineering and assembly drawings.
- Follow approved processes, procedures and safe systems of work.
- Undertake general mechanical fitting activities with minimal supervision.
- Work carefully with complex, sensitive and potentially fragile equipment.
- Liaise with technicians and other engineering teams to ensure activities are completed to schedule.
- Support the preparation and maintenance of documentation covering equipment installation, maintenance and testing.
- Maintain appropriate quality, safety and engineering standards throughout all activities.
Essential Requirements
- Recognised engineering apprenticeship or equivalent, supported by a relevant engineering qualification.
- Practical mechanical fitting, assembly or maintenance experience.
- Ability to accurately read and interpret engineering/assembly drawings.
- Good understanding of quality assurance procedures and documentation.
- Experience working under Written Safe Systems of Work and/or Method Statements.
- Able to complete tasks independently while working effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Competent with Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
Desirable Experience
- Experience with vacuum systems and vacuum technology.
- Knowledge of mechanical cooling systems.
- Previous experience working with complex scientific, industrial or high-integrity engineering equipment.
Please note: This is a fully onsite position with no hybrid working available.
