An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Material Support Specialist to join a high-performing aerospace and defence support team based at RAF Brize Norton. This role is critical in ensuring material availability across a complex military aircraft fleet, supporting maintenance operations and helping to deliver operational readiness worldwide.
Working closely with Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO) and Part 145 teams, you will play a key role in managing material demands, resolving supply chain challenges, and supporting aircraft maintenance programmes.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and coordinate material demands across the UK fleet to support maintenance and flying programmes.
- Maintain operational oversight of material-related issues affecting fleet availability, both in the UK and worldwide.
- Support Aircraft on Ground (AOG) recovery activities by providing material status updates and escalation support.
- Escalate AOG, Work Stop, and critical maintenance parts shortages to ensure timely resolution.
- Liaise with customers and internal stakeholders regarding material procurement requirements.
- Proactively follow up on outstanding orders, delayed deliveries, missing documentation, and incomplete requisitions.
- Identify and escalate supply chain risks impacting maintenance schedules.
- Attend daily operational briefings and planning meetings, providing material status updates and recommendations.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure material support objectives are achieved.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Previous experience within a Material Support, Supply Chain, Logistics, or Inventory Management environment.
- Experience working within an aerospace, aviation, defence, or highly regulated engineering environment.
- Strong knowledge of material management systems, including:
- SAP SP1
- SAP HANA
- Airnav
- Microsoft Excel
- Experience using MDS for Part 145 material requisitions.
- Understanding of EASA Part 145 regulations.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with customers, suppliers, and operational teams.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and issue escalation.
