Our client, a leading organisation in the defence and security sector, is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer specialising in Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) programming to support detailed machining and inspection activities in Warton. This is a 12-month, full-time contract role based fully on site.
Key Responsibilities:
- Translate CAD models, engineering drawings, material specifications and manufacturing process information into digital CMM inspection processes
- Develop and implement CMM programmes for detailed machined components
- Apply machining principles, design for manufacture, dimensional management and process planning knowledge
- Use CATIA V4/V5, Siemens NX, LK CAMIO and Siemens Dimensional Planning Verification (DPV), or equivalent systems
- Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) in accordance with ISO and ASME standards
- Support manufacturing engineering development and implementation activities, managing work to cost and schedule
- Respond effectively to unplanned events and deliver work to tight deadlines
- Maintain high standards of safety, health and environmental compliance while communicating effectively across multiple organisational levels
Job Requirements:
- HNC, HND, engineering degree or recognised apprenticeship in Manufacturing Engineering, supported by significant relevant experience
- Experience in CMM programming, inspection and detailed machining processes
- In-depth knowledge of machining manufacturing processes and associated inspection requirements
- Experience with CATIA V5, Siemens NX, LK CAMIO and Siemens DPV, or equivalent CMM and manufacturing systems
- Understanding of PLM or equivalent product data management systems, SAP CAM, Shop Floor Manager, CDP and VAS
- Strong knowledge of GD&T and ISO and ASME standards
- Understanding of design for manufacture, dimensional management and manufacturing process planning
- Good IT skills, project management capability, organisational skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure
Contract Details:
- 12-month contract
- Full-time, on-site position in Warton
- BPSS clearance required, with SC clearance in progress
- Defence and aerospace manufacturing environment
