Salary: Up to £38,000 DOE
Location: Chard
Hours: Monday to Friday Days (39 hours per week)
- Monday to Thursday: 7:00am–4:00pm or 8:00am–5:00pm
- Friday: 7:00am–12:00pm or 8:00am–1:00pm
The Company
Our client is a well-established precision engineering manufacturer supplying high-quality components to a range of industries. Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit a Maintenance Supervisor to lead their maintenance function, ensuring plant, equipment and site facilities are maintained to the highest standards while supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the business.
The Role
Reporting to the Group Facilities Manager, you will lead the maintenance team, ensuring production equipment and facilities remain safe, reliable and fully operational. You will oversee both planned preventative and reactive maintenance, coordinate contractors, manage maintenance systems and play a key role in improving equipment reliability and operational performance.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support the maintenance team, creating a positive and high-performing working environment.
- Plan and allocate maintenance activities to ensure workloads are completed efficiently.
- Manage planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across manufacturing equipment and site facilities.
- Maintain and update the CMMS, ensuring maintenance schedules and records are accurate.
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns, minimising production downtime.
- Organise routine servicing, inspections and statutory maintenance activities.
- Coordinate external contractors and ensure all work is completed safely and to a high standard.
- Order and manage spare parts to maintain stock availability.
- Support the installation and commissioning of new machinery and equipment.
- Assist with maintenance budgets and cost control.
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety and environmental regulations.
- Drive continuous improvement projects to improve reliability, efficiency and productivity.
- Conduct performance reviews, identify training requirements and support the development of maintenance staff.
- Attend maintenance, health & safety and continuous improvement meetings.
About You
The successful candidate will have:
- Previous experience within a manufacturing or industrial maintenance environment.
- Supervisory or team leadership experience.
- Strong electrical and mechanical maintenance knowledge.
- Experience using a CMMS or maintenance management system.
- Experience coordinating contractors and external service providers.
- Good organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
- A proactive approach to continuous improvement and Health & Safety.
