Location: Wirral, Merseyside - Must drive and possess a full UK driver''s license
We are currently recruiting on behalf of a leading housing association for an experienced Maintenance Operative to join their repairs and maintenance team on a permanent basis.
This is a varied, hands-on role combining property maintenance, minor repairs, refurbishment, construction, driving and delivery duties. The successful candidate will be responsible for completing high-quality work while providing an excellent service to residents and customers.
The Role
As a Maintenance Operative, you will carry out a range of maintenance, repair, refurbishment and delivery activities across residential properties and other locations.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out minor repairs, maintenance, refurbishment and construction activities across a range of trade disciplines.
- Driving company vehicles safely and professionally to attend jobs and carry out deliveries.
- Undertaking delivery and collection duties as required.
- Planning and organising your daily workload to ensure work is completed efficiently and within required timescales.
- Attending scheduled appointments and providing a professional, customer-focused service.
- Carrying out inspections and pre-measuring work to identify repair requirements.
- Using mobile technology and IT systems to receive work instructions, update jobs, order materials and complete records.
- Managing materials effectively and minimising waste.
- Working alongside other trades, surveyors and subcontractors to ensure works are completed on time.
- Communicating professionally with residents and customers regarding repairs and any follow-up work required.
- Completing job tickets, timesheets, inspection reports and other documentation accurately.
- Using tools, plant and equipment relevant to the role.
- Working in accordance with all Health & Safety policies and procedures.
- Undertaking low-risk asbestos-related work where required, following appropriate training and agreed procedures.
- Attending team briefings, meetings and training as required.
About You
We are looking for a reliable, practical and customer-focused Maintenance Operative who is comfortable working independently and as part of a wider team.
You will ideally have:
- Previous experience in property maintenance, construction, repairs or social housing.
- Experience undertaking multi-skilled maintenance or trade-related work.
- Experience of driving and carrying out deliveries in a commercial environment.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Good attention to detail and pride in delivering high-quality workmanship.
- A good understanding of Health & Safety requirements.
- Good organisational and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to manage your own workload and work on your own initiative.
- The ability to complete paperwork, job tickets and timesheets accurately.
- The ability to meet agreed targets and deadlines.
- The physical ability to undertake the requirements of the role.
Essential Requirements
You must:
- Hold a full UK driving licence.
- Be confident and able to drive company vehicles as part of the role.
- Have previous experience within maintenance, construction, repairs or a related trade environment.
- Be willing to work across different locations as required.
- Have a strong commitment to Health & Safety and customer service.
Qualifications
- Relevant qualification or experience in a multi-skilled trade is desirable.
- CSCS card is desirable.
