Job DescriptionThe role of the Litigation Legal Secretary is pivotal within a busy legal team specialising in dispute resolution. The successful candidate supports solicitors and legal professionals by providing comprehensive administrative and secretarial assistance specifically related to litigation matters. This position requires a high level of accuracy, strong organisational skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare, format and proofread legal documents, correspondence, court forms, and bundles ensuring compliance with court and firm standards.
- Manage and maintain case files, both electronic and paper-based, ensuring all documentation is accurately recorded and easily retrievable.
- Coordinate and diarise court dates, hearings, client meetings and deadlines, ensuring all parties are kept informed.
- Assist with the preparation and submission of court applications and documents via appropriate electronic filing systems.
- Liaise professionally with clients, court officials, barristers, and other external parties in a timely and confidential manner.
- Support fee earners by managing incoming and outgoing post, telephone enquiries, and email correspondence.
- Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion at all times.
- Provide general administrative support including photocopying, scanning, and filing as required.
- Monitor and report on case progress and deadlines to ensure compliance with legal and procedural requirements.
- Highly organised with the ability to prioritise workload and meet strict deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Discretion and confidentiality in handling sensitive legal information.
- Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
- Good numerical skills and the ability to manage billing or time recording systems is beneficial.
