About the Role

Are you passionate about supporting young people to overcome barriers, build confidence and achieve their goals?

We have an amazing opportunity for a Learner Coach to provide high-quality, structured support and guidance to learners throughout their journey on the JGW+ programme. You will play a key role in supporting learners’ wellbeing, personal development, engagement and progression, helping them achieve positive and sustained outcomes.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience working with young people, vulnerable learners, employability or youth services who is passionate about making a genuine difference.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide ongoing pastoral care, wellbeing support and guidance to learners throughout their programme.
  • Manage an allocated caseload effectively, monitoring progress, engagement, attendance and individual support needs.
  • Conduct regular caseload reviews with your line manager and take appropriate action to address barriers to progression.
  • Identify learners requiring additional personal, emotional or practical support and coordinate appropriate interventions.
  • Act as a key point of contact for safeguarding concerns, ensuring issues are recorded and escalated appropriately in line with safeguarding and Prevent procedures.
  • Build positive relationships with learners, creating a supportive and inclusive environment that encourages confidence and achievement.
  • Conduct learner interviews, enrolments and inductions, ensuring all required documentation is accurate and completed.
  • Deliver structured induction sessions and ensure learners understand the programme, expectations and available support.
  • Review learner information and identify additional learning or support needs, including childcare, one-to-one support, counselling and other interventions.
  • Maintain accurate learner records and work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to ensure learners receive the right support.
  • Develop positive relationships with referral partners, including Careers Wales, to support effective progression and referrals onto traineeship programmes.
  • Mentor and motivate learners, helping them develop employability, personal and essential skills and prepare for their next steps.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience of working with vulnerable learners or young people.
  • Experience supporting unemployed or disengaged young people.
  • Learning Coach Level 4 qualification, or willingness to work towards this.
  • Experience of safeguarding and Prevent.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong ability to build rapport and positive relationships with young learners.
  • A motivating and encouraging approach, with the ability to inspire learners to overcome barriers and achieve their goals.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a learner caseload effectively.
