Lead Mechanical Engineer | £46,000-£48,000 | London-Based | Higher Education EnvironmentAre you a skilled mechanical engineer ready to take the lead on a high-profile site? We''re looking for a Lead Mechanical Engineer to join our team, delivering top-tier planned and reactive maintenance services within a prestigious university environment.Responsibilities
Lead the delivery of mechanical PPM and minor works across the site.Ensure compliance with AWSL safety rules, policies, and permit systems.Provide technical support and guidance to the team and client.Maintain and update the Maximo CAFM system via tablet.Liaise with subcontractors, supervisors, and account support to ensure high-quality service.Monitor performance and report to the Area Manager.Ensure safe working practices, including LOTO procedures and risk assessments.Support quoting processes for minor works and manage materials/resources efficiently.Participate in the on-call rota and manage contractor escorts and permits.Qualifications and Training
NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Building Services (essential)Legionella (L8) trained and competentApprentice-trained in MandE discipline (desirable)City and Guilds 18th Edition (desirable)Base knowledge of gas and FGAS systems (desirable)Skills and Experience
Minimum 2 years'' experience in a similar role across multi-site environmentsStrong understanding of HVAC, BMS, and mechanical systemsExperience using CAFM systems (e.g. Maximo)Excellent customer service and communication skillsAbility to manage priorities and deliver under pressureKnowledge of risk assessments, permits, and safety proceduresWhy Join Us?
