UNLOCK YOUR BEST WORK LIFE + MAKE A DIFFERENCE TO EVERY LIFEWe have an exciting opportunity for a Lead General Practitioner to join our healthcare team at HMP Leeds, a category B male prison housing individuals aged 21+. In this role you will oversee the delivery of a high quality GP service at HMP Leeds, and clinically supervise 4 GPs, 2 ANPs, 1 trainee ANP and 1 Trainee MNP. You will also assist with training, rotas, clinical sessions, and lead MPCCC and safer prescribing meetings. HMP Leeds has a fast paced healthcare service where no two days are the same.
Hours
This role is full time, 40 hours per week, including morning, afternoon and evening sessions from Monday to Friday.
Salary
This is a full time role with an annual salary up to £129,500 per annum – depending on experience.

Main duties of the job
Our Lead General Practitioners are highly valued and respected members of the Prison Healthcare community. As a Lead GP, your responsibilities will include:Provide medical leadership and expert advice on medical and primary care issuesIdentify and utilise evidence-based best practice through benchmarking and clinical guidelinesChair MPCCC and safer prescribing meetings; support 72-hour review meetingsEnsure systems and processes are in place for managing results, letters, and tasksBe a core member of the local QA and MM meetingsReview RCA findings and engage in action planning to embed lessons learnedSupport development of Local Operating PoliciesSupport the Head of Healthcare at Local Delivery Board meetingsAttend Clinical ForumsReview CVs for potential new GPs and locum/agency GPs; support recruitmentOversee induction of new GPs at the local siteSupport other GPs with peer review and clinical supervisionSupport discussions about poor performance and escalate as needed

Qualifications required
MBChB or MBBSInclusion on the GMC Register and GP Performers ListRCGP 1 and 2 substance misuse qualifications or willingness to undertake the qualificationsAbility to work with patients with a history of substance misuseInterest in long-term conditionsEvidence of continuing professional developmentKnowledge and methods of developing clinical quality assuranceAbility to develop evidence-based best practice
