This London based fire and security systems installer are seeking an experienced Lead Document Controller to oversee and develop document control processes across multiple projects. You will manage document numbering, revision control, transmittals, submittals, and Common Data Environment (CDE) administration, ensuring project information is accurate, compliant, and fully traceable. The role also includes leadership of the Document Controller function and support for BIM information management. This is an office-based role close to a mainline station and has a salary to £52,000 plus package including 25 days holiday, healthcare and pension.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage document control systems, including numbering, drawing registers, revision control, transmittals, and submittals.
• Administer and maintain CDE platforms (SharePoint, Procore, and similar systems).
• Develop and improve document workflows, procedures, and best practices.
• Ensure compliance with project information requirements, quality standards, and audit requirements.
• Conduct quality checks on project documentation prior to issue.
• Oversee document distribution, archiving, and retention processes.
• Support BIM information management and alignment with project workflows.
• Lead and mentor the Document Controller, driving performance and development.
• Provide regular reporting on document status, compliance, and outstanding actions.
• Collaborate with project, design, and construction teams to ensure effective information management.
Requirements
• Proven experience in a senior or lead document control role within construction, engineering, or building services.
• Strong knowledge of document control processes, revision management, and CDE administration.
• Advanced experience with SharePoint and Procore; knowledge of Aconex, Asite, or similar platforms is desirable.
• Understanding of BIM information management processes and standards.
• Excellent organisational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience leading or mentoring team members.
