Lead CNC Machinist

Hales Group are recruiting for an experienced Lead CNC Machinist to join our client based in Lowestoft, Suffolk. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established and growing business, working within a busy and modern workshop environment.
  
This permanent position offers full time hours on a rotating shift pattern, including early and late shifts. You will play a key role in supporting workshop operations during your shift, helping to guide and coordinate team activities while ensuring productivity and quality standards are maintained.
  
Key Responsibilities

• Manufacture precision components using a range of CNC and manual machining methods
• Set and operate CNC milling and turning machines to produce high-quality parts
• Edit and adjust CNC programs based on technical drawings and specifications
• Carry out machine set-ups, tooling adjustments, and program prove-outs
• Support and guide team members on shift, promoting best practice and efficient working
• Assist in coordinating daily workshop activities to help meet production targets
• Provide hands-on support with problem-solving and technical queries within the team
• Complete basic assembly and inspection tasks where required
• Ensure all work meets required quality standards and specifications
• Follow company procedures, including quality and Health & Safety guidelines
• Support wider workshop and cross-functional activities as needed

  
Requirements

• Proven experience in CNC machining (milling, turning, or both)
• Experience working in a senior or team-supporting capacity within a workshop environment
• Strong ability to set, operate, and make adjustments to CNC machinery
• Confident reading and interpreting engineering drawings
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to assist and guide others under pressure
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and support a team environment
• Flexible and reliable approach to work
• Full driving licence desirable
