Laboratory Scientist

A pioneering organisation at the forefront of human biospecimen supply is seeking a Laboratory Scientist to join its growing team. The company has supported drug discovery, diagnostics, and cell therapy to biomedical researchers across Europe.
Role Overview:
This is a hands-on scientific position suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced lab setting and is eager to take ownership of both routine processing and innovative lab development. You will work closely with a dedicated team of scientists and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure the consistency, quality, and scientific credibility of biospecimen products used in cutting-edge biomedical research.

Key responsibilities:
- Process and isolate immune cells (e.g. PBMCs, T cells) from human blood donations
- Apply controlled-rate freezing and cryopreservation techniques
- Maintain accurate and compliant lab records
- Improve internal QC protocols and product reliability
- Support assay development and optimisation of flow cytometry workflows
- Troubleshoot technical issues in real-time
- Train new and existing team members in lab protocols and best practices
- Provide ongoing scientific mentoring to a lab team of 5
- Assist in implementing internal flow cytometry panels
- Recommend lab equipment, reagents, and processes for service expansion
Who you are?
Experience in human blood processing and immune cell isolation
Proficiency in flow cytometry (basic to intermediate level)
Familiarity with qPCR or molecular biology techniques
Understanding of lab safety, aseptic technique, and compliance
Comfortable handling Tier 1 donor material (Hep A, Hep B, HIV screened)
Desirable Experience:
Exposure to products/workflows from BD Biosciences, Meridian, or similar providers
Previous work in commercial, academic, or clinical research labs
Knowledge of QC processes (formal ISO/QMS certification not required)
Education: BSc or MSc in Biomedical Science, Biology, Immunology, or related discipline
