Laboratory Technician (one-year contract)
Join Our Client as a Laboratory Technician!
Are you passionate about science and ready to make a difference? Our client is seeking a dedicated Laboratory Technician to join their dynamic team! In this exciting role, you will play a key part in executing and monitoring multiple routine biochemical and whole organism assays, helping to deliver high-quality data that will support the selection of chemical hits for advancement in the invention pipeline.
Role Purpose:
As a Laboratory Technician, you will be responsible for:
- Executing and monitoring biochemical and whole organism assays.
- Delivering reliable and high-quality data to support scientific advancement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively under moderate supervision, executing multiple assays across various indications.
- Maintain insect cultures essential for conducting assays.
- Keep stock and equipment in order to effectively perform assay tasks while adhering to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
- Consistently execute assigned assay tasks to a high standard.
- Communicate any assay issues or process improvements to team members and Responsible Scientists.
- Collaborate with relevant experts for troubleshooting and testing.
- Support the development of existing and new methods by performing bespoke tests designed by technical leads.
- Uphold safety standards and contribute to a safe, effective laboratory environment by setting high HSE standards and following DEFRA containment rules.
- Participate in meetings to discuss assay performance and contribute to projects aimed at improving procedures and advancing technology.
What You Bring:
To thrive in this role, you should possess:
- A minimum of an A level/Btech Biological qualification.
- Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
- Good communication skills, both oral and written.
- A solid scientific background with a keen interest in expanding your knowledge around assigned assays.
- A willingness to engage with new technology and digital initiatives.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office programs.
