KS5 Learning Mentor

A high achieving all-girls school based in East London are looking to secure a Learning Mentor to start in September 2026 on an ongoing contract.

The school

This secondary school is a larger than average all -girls secondary school situated in the London borough of Hackney with over 1200 children on roll. The school was rated outstanding by Ofsted in 2012 in all categories and have continued to maintain their high standards ever since. They provide the young girls with an inspiring environment where students are safe, valued and accepted. Additionally, they are now part of the prestigious World Class Schools network.

This centrally located school is based a short walk from a popular overground trainline and offers excellent CPD for all staff.

Learning Mentor/ Academic Mentor

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a KS5 Learning Mentor to start in September 2026 on an ongoing long term assignment. The main duties will include :

Main Duties

  • Provide day-to-day mentoring and pastoral support to Year 12 students, helping them to settle into KS5 and make a successful transition from GCSE to post-16 study.
  • Build positive, supportive relationships with students and act as a consistent point of contact for advice, guidance and encouragement.
  • Monitor student attendance and punctuality within the KS5 study room, ensuring students attend timetabled study sessions and use their independent study time appropriately.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records and follow up promptly with students regarding unexplained absences or persistent lateness.
  • Identify students whose attendance, engagement or behaviour may be causing concern and raise these issues with the appropriate member of the pastoral or sixth-form team.
  • Supervise the study room and promote a calm, purposeful and positive environment that enables students to work independently and effectively.
  • Check in regularly with students who may require additional encouragement, guidance or pastoral support.
  • Liaise with teachers, tutors, pastoral staff and parents/carers where appropriate to share relevant information and support student progress and attendance.

The successful candidate will need to have a proven track record of supporting KS5 student either within a school or 6th form college to be considered!
