Learning Mentor / Attendance Officer | Newham | ASAP

Remedy Education are currently looking for an experienced Learning Mentor / Attendance Officer to join a supportive school in Newham, East London.

This is a varied role supporting pupils with their attendance, engagement, behaviour and wellbeing, while working closely with families and school staff to help remove barriers to learning.

The role will include:

• Monitoring and improving pupil attendance and punctuality
• Following up unexplained and persistent absences
• Working closely with pupils and families to identify barriers to attendance
• Providing one-to-one mentoring and pastoral support to pupils
• Supporting pupils with behaviour, engagement and emotional wellbeing
• Liaising with parents, teachers, safeguarding teams and external professionals
• Maintaining accurate attendance and pastoral records
• Supporting pupils to re-engage with their education

The ideal candidate will have:

• Previous experience as a Learning Mentor, Attendance Officer or Pastoral Support Worker
• Experience working with children or young people within an education setting
• Strong behaviour management and mentoring skills
• Good knowledge of safeguarding and attendance procedures
• Excellent communication skills when working with pupils, parents and professionals
