IT Support Engineer

IT Support Engineer – 8-month contract – Fareham

My Client is looking for a looking for a proactive and customer-focused IT Support Engineer to join a IT team, providing high-quality 2nd Line support across a modern Microsoft environment.

The IT Support Engineer will be responsible for resolving technical issues, supporting business-critical applications, and helping maintain a reliable and secure IT infrastructure. Any previous experience supporting Microsoft 365 migration projects would be a distinct advantage.

Skills & Experience

• Proven experience providing 2nd Line IT Support in a Microsoft environment.
• Strong Microsoft 365 administration and support experience.
• Solid knowledge of Active Directory user and group management.
• Experience supporting Windows 10 and Windows 11 operating systems.
• Good understanding of the Microsoft End User Computing (EUC) stack.
• Experience supporting business applications, including troubleshooting and user support.
• Knowledge of application patching and server-based application maintenance.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide 2nd Line technical support to end users, resolving incidents and service requests within agreed SLAs.
• Administer and support Microsoft 365, including user management, licensing, and troubleshooting.
• Manage Active Directory user accounts, including joiners, movers, leavers, group permissions, and password resets.
• Support and administer Windows 10 and Windows 11 desktop environments.
• Deliver application support for both third-party and internally developed business applications.
• Deploy and patch applications on Windows servers, ensuring systems remain secure and up to date.
• Investigate technical issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement long-term solutions.

The IT Support Engineer is required onsite in Fareham, at least 4 days a week.
