Our client, a leading set of chambers in the legal sector, is currently looking for a
HR and Pupillage Executive
on an interim contract basis.
The RoleThe primary purpose of this role is to organise Chambers’ people systems and recruitment processes, while project managing all aspects of pupil recruitment, training and support. Reporting directly to the CEO and supported by an Administrator, you will act as the central point of contact for HR and pupillage matters across Chambers.
Key ResponsibilitiesHR
Organise and administer people systems, recruitment, onboarding and induction processes for barristers, staff and pupils.
Manage recruitment correspondence, interview administration, and liaison with candidates and agencies.
Oversee inductions, probation reviews, mentoring, buddy allocations, and exit processes.
Maintain the staff HR system, ensuring accurate employee data, holiday allocation and absence monitoring.
Manage the staff appraisal process and support staff learning and development opportunities.
Ensure compliance with GDPR and oversee LEX system administration.
Pupillage
Project manage and deliver the pupillage outreach and recruitment process end-to-end.
Coordinate contracts, BSB forms, feedback, and pupil supervisor training.
Administer the pupillage training process, including supervisor briefings and check-ins.
Manage the tenancy application process and provide ongoing support to pupils.
Provide updates to the Pupillage Committee Chairs and others, ensuring compliance with policy and regulatory requirements.

Maintain accurate recruitment and pupillage diversity monitoring data.
Support implementation of Chambers’ Reasonable Adjustment and EDWI policies.
Contribute to chambers’ strategic objectives and promote its core values.
Person SpecificationEssential
Strong HR process and recruitment experience, including onboarding and induction.
Excellent project management, planning and organisational skills.
High IT literacy with strong Microsoft Office 365 skills.
Meticulous attention to detail with ability to meet deadlines.
Excellent interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, and ability to build stakeholder relationships.
Discretion, credibility, and the ability to handle sensitive matters confidentially.
Desirable
Experience of managing pupillage recruitment and administration within a chambers.
Familiarity with HR databases and/or chambers case management systems.
CIPD qualification or working towards.
Mental Health First Aid or wellbeing-related accreditation.
