Belmont Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Housing Solutions Officer to work with our client, Manchester City Council, based in the Manchester area. This is a temporary role working full-time hours, Monday to Friday.

Overview:

The role holder will provide high quality support, advice and guidance to service users, working with individuals to assess their needs, manage risks and develop plans to support positive outcomes. The role will focus on preventing homelessness, supporting vulnerable residents and assisting service users to access appropriate housing options and support services.

Main Duties:

  • Providing advice, guidance and support to service users experiencing housing difficulties or at risk of homelessness
  • Assessing individual needs, identifying risks and developing appropriate support plans
  • Working with applicants to develop realistic and outcome-focused Personal Housing Plans to prevent homelessness
  • Supporting service users to access appropriate statutory, voluntary and community-based services
  • Providing housing options advice and assisting applicants to secure suitable accommodation
  • Undertaking home visits and delivering housing advice and support within community locations and partner organisations where required
  • Working closely with partner agencies and stakeholders to promote independence and positive outcomes for vulnerable residents
  • Maintaining accurate records, updating systems and supporting performance monitoring requirements
  • Providing advice and expertise to partner agencies and stakeholders regarding housing support and homelessness prevention

Essential Criteria:

  • Excellent working knowledge and understanding of homelessness legislation and housing advice provision
  • Previous experience working within housing, homelessness or a related support service
  • Experience assessing individual needs, managing risk and developing support plans
  • Strong communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills
  • Experience working with vulnerable individuals and supporting them to achieve positive outcomes
  • Ability to work effectively with statutory and voluntary agencies
  • Ability to manage a varied workload and maintain accurate records
