Overview

Highly Specialist CAMHS Clinician role within the First Steps Community Psychology Service (part of Homerton Community CAMHS). The service aims to promote the psychological and emotional wellbeing of children and families by intervening early to prevent problems from becoming severe. We are seeking skilled clinicians who are passionate about early intervention and community psychology. The post-holder will be locality team lead for a team of Child Mental Health Specialists, provide managerial and operational support, and maintain a clinical caseload within the service.Job responsibilities

Be responsible and accountable for providing an autonomous and systematic Early Intervention and Community Psychology Service in a geographical area of City and Hackney.Work within a Locality Management Group to plan, monitor, review and ensure implementation of the service.Ensure managerial and clinical supervision of locality team members and have oversight of the team0s work.Address both strategic and operational issues.Provide teaching, training, consultation and supervision to other staff groups where relevant; participate in CPD and other training activities; stay abreast of relevant research and national guidance; follow policies and agreed objectives.Engage in direct clinical work with children and families as part of prevention and early intervention initiatives; provide consultation/teaching/training to professionals; contribute to service development affecting children0s psychological and emotional wellbeing.Manage a caseload and deliver both direct and indirect clinical provision.Qualifications

Essential

HCPC registered Psychologist or equivalentPostgraduate Doctorate in Clinical, Counselling or Educational Psychology or equivalent (or approved alternative for those qualified before 1997) or a valid equivalent qualification in Mental Health Nursing, Psychotherapy or Family Therapy.Relevant clinical and/or managerial knowledge and skills demonstrated through formal training, supervision, certifications, or documented experience.Ability to provide supervision and training for staff; capability to engage in service development and research.Desirable

Post-qualification training (e.g., family therapy, CBT for ASD, trauma) and experience of working with diverse communities.Experience

Essential

Substantive experience as a qualified Clinical Psychologist or equivalent.Experience working with children and families as a Clinical Psychologist.Experience in teaching, training, supervision and consultation for staff groups.Experience working in a multi-ethnic community; experience in risk management and safeguarding; supervision and training experience.Desirable

Experience working with schools or organisations and systems; supervising trainees and other staff.Skills / Abilities

Ability to apply therapeutic and assessment skills to an Early Intervention service with integrated, short-term approaches for children and families.High-level communication and facilitation skills; ability to tailor information to different audiences.Empathy to overcome barriers to understanding; negotiation skills.Ability to lead a team and supervise others; strong formulation and analytical skills; ability to plan and develop services.Autonomy for lead work within the locality and collaboration within the Locality Management Group.About Us
