The Opportunity
Wolviston Management Services are pleased to be supporting our client in the recruitment of an experienced HGV Technician to join their established Commercial Vehicle Services team in Middlesbrough.
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified HGV Technician to join a well-established organisation operating within the transport, logistics and heavy industrial sector.
Working within a busy commercial vehicle workshop, you will be responsible for maintaining both company-owned and customer vehicles, ensuring they remain safe, reliable and fully compliant with DVSA standards.
With a 4 on, 4 off day-shift pattern, this position offers an attractive working arrangement alongside a strong benefits package and a varied workload.
The Role
As HGV Technician, you will carry out planned and reactive maintenance, inspections, diagnostics and repairs across a range of commercial vehicles and associated equipment.
Key responsibilities will include:

• Carrying out routine inspections and preventative maintenance
• Completing MOT preparation in accordance with DVSA requirements
• Diagnosing and rectifying vehicle defects
• Investigating and resolving service and driver-reported faults
• Using diagnostic equipment to identify and rectify technical issues
• Accurately completing inspection sheets, job sheets and maintenance records
• Recording labour time and parts used to support accurate job costing
• Ensuring vehicles are maintained to the required safety and operational standards
• Working to planned maintenance schedules and agreed timescales
• Maintaining high standards of health, safety and workshop housekeeping

About You
To be considered for this opportunity, you will ideally have:

• Level 3 qualification or equivalent in HGV Service & Maintenance
• Previous experience maintaining and repairing HGVs
• Good knowledge of DVSA inspection and maintenance standards
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding capabilities
• Experience using vehicle diagnostic equipment - specific system training can be provided
• The ability to manage your own workload with minimal supervision
• Good communication and organisational skills
• A strong understanding of health and safety within a workshop environment
• The ability to work effectively to planned maintenance schedules and deadlines

Advantageous Experience
While not essential, experience or qualifications in the following would be beneficial:

• HGV driving licence
• Forklift certification
• Hydraulics
• Fabrication and welding
