Health Economist - Inside IR35We are seeking a qualified and analytically rigorous Economist to support the evaluation of prevention and public health interventions through robust cost-benefit analysis (CBA). This role will focus on quantifying the economic and social benefits of prevention interventions for local residents. The ideal candidate will bring a strong grounding in economics, experience with applied policy analysis, and a deep interest in health equity and public value. This is a fast-paced, impact-focused role suited to a proactive and independent consultant who can hit the ground running.Responsibilities
Lead economic evaluations, including cost-benefit analysis and cost effectiveness of specific interventionsQuantify and monetise health and social outcomes using established economic evaluation techniquesGather, clean and analyse data related to health, demographics, social outcomes and service useDevelop logic models and impact pathways to understand causal links between interventions and outcomesWork closely with colleagues at the council to ensure interdisciplinary coherenceProduce reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholdersSupport stakeholders'' engagement by translating complex economic evidence into compelling insightsEssential requirements
Postgraduate degree in Economics, Health economics, Public Policy, or related fieldExperience in conducting cost-benefit analyses, preferably in the health and social policy domainStrong quantitative and data analysis skillsDesirable
Knowledge of public health metrics, e.g. QALYExperience working within or alongside local or national government, NHS, Public health bodiesUnderstanding equity weighing and methods to assess social impactApplication process
