Due to increased demand, we are looking for a

Health Care Assistant/Phlebotomist

to join our friendly Practice family. Oswald Medical Centre is an award-winning Practice serving over 16,000 patients. We are based across 3 sites in Accrington, Oswaldtwistle, and Blackburn. We pride ourselves on our approach to providing caring services and offer a range of standard NHS and enhanced services including minor surgery.We are seeking a competent Health Care Assistant/Phlebotomist who can work independently and as part of a team. The successful applicant should have previous experience working in a busy GP surgery, carrying out a variety of duties to meet the needs of the practice patients.Main duties of the job

To provide high-quality care based on the needs of the Practice population, including treatment, screening, preventative care, and patient education. Assisting GPs, PN, and NA.To manage patients with chronic disease, run specific clinic sessions, and support the maintenance of robust call and recall systems.Venepuncture and other skill-based tasksHome Visits to Housebound Patients to Manage Long Term ConditionsAssist with Minor Surgery Aseptic TechniqueAddress unmet needs of patients with LTC, including housebound patientsNHS Health ChecksFunction as a chaperone when requiredUndertake health promotion to educate patientsWeighing and Measuring PatientsUndertake Opportunistic ScreeningUpdate Care Plans and inform all involved in the patient''s careProvide individual advice on Smoking Cessation, Healthy Eating and Refer to in-house staff HandWBC, Social PrescriberDevelop and Maintain Health Promotion Material with the Practice/Notice BoardsRefer to other agencies as appropriateApply Infection Control Measures according to guidelines; support patients and colleagues in infection controlSafeguarding Adults/ChildrenBe competent in Anaphylaxis and Resuscitation TechniquesAssist with Flu ClinicsPerform 24-hour ECGs after trainingAbout us

Experience

Experience within a Primary Care Nursing TeamExperience dealing with Vulnerable PatientsExperience working in a GP PracticeQualifications

HCA and Phlebotomy Qualification or equivalentTraining in chronic disease managementGCSE Level or aboveExperience with Long Term ConditionsProficiency in Time Management, Confidentiality, Clinical Governance, and Health PromotionKnowledge of EMIS Web and Quality and Outcomes FrameworkDisclosure and Barring Service Check
