Health Care Assistant (GP Practice)

Overview
Health Care Assistant (GP Practice) role at NHS in East Manchester. We are a 5-partner practice with a friendly, well-established team. We use EMIS Web and support a diverse, multi-ethnic population.
Responsibilities
Provide friendly and efficient service to patients and visitors, in person and over the telephone.
Perform clinical and administrative duties to support the practice nurse(s) and doctors, enabling more time for patient assessment and management.
Report changes in patient care to the nursing/medical team and maintain written records.
Raise safeguarding concerns to the GP or safeguarding lead and update records as required.
Explain clinical procedures to patients according to guidelines/protocols.
Obtain information with discretion when assessing urgency of requests.
Provide phlebotomy service (training available; qualification desirable).
Deliver lifestyle advice and arrange follow-ups as appropriate.
Take routine measurements and assist with tasks such as urine testing, blood pressure, temperature, pulse, peak flow (Asthma), ECGs, baby clinic administration and new patient health checks.
Maintain confidentiality at all times and ensure data protection compliance.
Manage drug fridges (temperature, expiry dates) and order supplies as directed.
Keep clinical rooms clean and ready for use; perform general office duties and clerical tasks as required.
Administer recall systems for chronic disease management and immunisations; coordinate appointments and follow ups.
Ensure health promotion materials are available; attend relevant meetings and training as required; work as part of a developing team.
Record all interactions with patients and operate within health, safety and data protection legislation.
Qualifications
GCSEs (A–C) in English and Maths.
NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care.
Phlebotomy qualification (or willing to train).
Computer skills (Word/Excel).
Driving Licence.
