Health and Safety Manager

The Royal Ballet and Opera is seeking to appoint an experienced, dynamic and knowledgeable Health and Safety Manager to lead our HandS operation and strategy. The health and safety of all employees, visitors, contractors, artists and members of the public is paramount and we aim to foster a culture of continuous improvement and a positive approach to safety. We want to communicate clearly with all staff and enable them to do their best work, knowing they are supported in creating a safe working environment for all.This role will suit a candidate who is action oriented, flexible and can work well under pressure. We are a live 24/7 venue, so the ability to adapt to changing priorities is crucial. We are looking for excellent communication skills and the desire and drive to influence, encourage and support cultural and practical HandS application across a varied organisation.Responsibilities
Lead the Health and Safety operation and strategy for The Royal Ballet and Opera.Foster a culture of continuous improvement and a positive approach to safety across all staff, visitors, contractors, artists and members of the public.Communicate clearly with all staff and enable them to work safely and effectively.Support the organisation in creating and maintaining a safe working environment for all.Operate effectively in a live, 24/7 venue and adapt to changing priorities.Influence, encourage and support practical HandS applications across a diverse organisation.Our Ideal Candidate Will Have
Chartered membership of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (or actively working toward Chartered membership).An excellent, up-to-date working knowledge of current Health and Safety legislation and its application.Substantial experience of managing Health and Safety issues within a large organisation, ideally in the entertainment industry.Ability to deal with a diverse range of people in a confident and professional manner.Experience of undertaking accident investigations in a dynamic working environment.Ability to compose reports and communicate clearly and effectively, explaining complex concepts to staff and management at all levels.Salary, Location and Hours
Permanent role. Salary: c. £60,000 per annum dependent on skills and experience. Based in Covent Garden, London with travel to our sites in Thurrock, Essex and Aberdare, Wales.Additional Information
