Our Support Service functions work in collaboration across North Yorkshire Police and North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service, providing vital shared expertise to deliver efficient and effective service to our communities.

The OpportunityWe are seeking a dynamic Head of Transport and Logistics to lead our joint Transport and Logistics Team across North Yorkshire Police and North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service. This is a pivotal leadership role, responsible for delivering high-quality, customer-focused services that directly support frontline operations.

You will take full ownership of the end-to-end transport and logistics provision—from strategy development and operational planning to delivering expert advice and service excellence. A key focus will be the creation and promotion of an annual delivery plan.

What We’re Looking ForWe’re looking for a proven leader with deep expertise in transport and/or logistics management, capable of delivering strategic change and operational excellence. You’ll bring:

Significant experience leading transport/logistics projects and teams in complex environments

Strong technical knowledge and the ability to translate complexity into practical solutions

Ideally, you will either hold the Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) (Transport) and/or be a chartered member of the Association of Fleet Professionals (AFP), the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT), or a similar professional body.

Significant relevant experience in the field

Exceptional stakeholder engagement and influencing skills

A track record of driving service improvement, innovation, and inclusivity

Commercial acumen and budget management expertise

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant ICT systems

You must have the right to work in the UK, with no restrictions on your employment

Hold a full UK manual driving licence

Internal applicants must have successfully completed their probation period
