Head of Pre-Construction

A growing and well-established main contractor is seeking an experienced Head of Pre-Construction to lead and manage the pre-construction function across a range of residential, commercial, education, and refurbishment projects throughout London and the Home Counties.

This is a key leadership role within an ambitious business, responsible for overseeing tendering, estimating, programme strategy, and early client engagement to ensure successful project delivery from inception.

Key Responsibilities:
• Leading the pre-construction team and overseeing all tender submissions
• Managing bid strategy, risk assessments, and programme planning
• Reviewing and coordinating tender documentation and pricing submissions
• Working closely with clients, consultants, and internal delivery teams
• Driving value engineering and buildability solutions during pre-construction stages
• Supporting business development and maintaining strong client relationships
• Ensuring projects are commercially viable and aligned with company objectives

Requirements:
• Proven experience in a Head of Pre-Construction, Pre-Construction Manager, or senior estimating role
• Relevant experience working for a main contractor on Design & Build projects
• Strong understanding of tendering, estimating, procurement, and project delivery
• Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills
• Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously
• Strong leadership and stakeholder management capabilities
