As Head of Onshore Policy, you will lead the organisation''s work on the issues that matter most to the successful deployment of onshore renewable energy, particularly onshore wind. Working at the heart of industry, government and regulation, you will influence policy, build consensus across a diverse membership and help remove barriers to project delivery. The role places a particular emphasis on planning and consenting, whilst also engaging with wider issues including grid infrastructure, transport logistics and other challenges impacting renewable energy development.

  • Convene industry leaders, policymakers and stakeholders to develop consensus and influence change.
  • Shape consultation responses, policy positions and strategic recommendations.
  • Lead engagement with government, regulators, planning authorities and industry bodies.
  • Drive the content and programme for Scottish Renewables'' flagship Onshore and Planning conferences.
  • Work alongside specialists in markets, economics and grid infrastructure to develop holistic policy solutions.

About You

You may currently work within a renewable energy developer, planning or environmental consultancy, industry body, regulator or government. What matters most is your ability to combine technical credibility with strategic leadership and stakeholder influence.

We''re particularly interested in individuals with:

  • Strong planning and consenting expertise.
  • Experience of onshore wind development or renewable energy infrastructure projects.
  • A deep understanding of environmental planning and the Scottish planning landscape.
  • The ability to build consensus across competing stakeholder interests.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills.
  • The credibility to engage confidently with senior industry leaders and policymakers.

This is an exceptional opportunity to help shape the future of Scotland''s renewable energy sector while working at the centre of some of the industry''s most important policy debates.
