An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a well-established environmental services business delivering essential frontline services across West London. Employing over 430 people and operating waste collection, recycling, grounds maintenance, parking enforcement and environmental services contracts on behalf of a major London borough, the organisation plays a critical role in keeping local communities clean, safe and sustainable. 

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this is a high-profile leadership role offering the opportunity to shape and influence the entire Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality function, drive cultural change, and further enhance standards across a growing and ambitious business.

The Head of HSEQ should be responsible for:

• Providing strategic leadership across all Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality activities, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, industry best practice and ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
• Leading and developing the HSEQ team, Training Academy and associated compliance processes, ensuring employees receive high-quality training, guidance and support to work safely and effectively.
• Driving a positive safety culture across operational services, influencing managers and frontline teams to improve engagement, accident prevention, near-miss reporting, risk management and continuous improvement.
• Managing key operational support functions including PPE provision, depot safety and compliance, and waste container stock management, ensuring they effectively support service delivery across the organisation.

The Head of HSEQ will have:

• Significant HSEQ leadership experience within waste management, environmental services, transport, logistics, local authority services or similarly high-risk operational environments.
• A NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent, together with a strong understanding of relevant legislation and compliance requirements.
• Proven ability to engage stakeholders at all levels, influencing behavioural change, securing buy-in for new initiatives and building strong relationships across operational and senior leadership teams.
• Strong leadership, problem-solving and communication skills, with experience managing teams, producing reports and driving continuous improvement within a complex operational environment.
