Head of Building Control

Our client, a prominent local authority in the buildings sector, is currently seeking an Interim Head of Building Control to lead their Building Control Team for a contract period of up to six months. This exciting opportunity is based at the Civic Centre in Enfield.

Key Responsibilities:

• Leading the Building Control Team, providing guidance and oversight to ensure compliance with Building Regulations
• Line managing a small team of surveyors, including performance management and professional development
• Conducting site visits in Enfield at least two days per week to inspect and assess compliance with statutory regulations
• Ensuring that all building control functions are delivered effectively and in accordance with the Council''s statutory obligations
• Liaising with the Building Safety Regulator to uphold safety standards and compliance requirements
• Providing expert advice on building safety, regulatory compliance, and best practices in building control
• Preparing and presenting reports to senior management and other stakeholders as necessary
• Developing and implementing strategies to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of building control services

Job Requirements:

• Class 3/4 qualified surveyor with substantial experience in building control
• Sound understanding of Building Regulations and their practical applications
• Thorough knowledge of the Council''s statutory Building Control functions
• Experience with the Building Safety Regulator and safety compliance
• Proven management and team leadership skills
• Ability to work in Enfield at least two days per week
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
