Adkins & Cheurfi Recruitment are partnering with one of Sunderland’s most exciting new developments to appoint a Head Chef, as they prepare to launch a premium Burger Restaurant which is set to be a fantastic addition to the city’s rapidly growing hospitality scene.

We’re seeking a driven Head Chef to take ownership of the kitchen from pre-opening through to a standout launch and beyond.

As Head Chef, you will take full ownership of the kitchen, shaping the menu, building your team, and setting the standard for quality, consistency, and creativity. This is a rare opportunity to make your mark on a flagship venue from day one.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead all kitchen operations, including prep, service, and hygiene standards
• Design and develop a premium burger-focused menu with innovative sides and specials
• Source high-quality ingredients and build strong supplier relationships
• Recruit, train, and inspire a high-performing kitchen team
• Maintain exceptional food quality and consistency under pressure
• Manage GP, stock control, and labour costs effectively
• Ensure full compliance with food safety and health regulations
• Collaborate with ownership on concept evolution and seasonal offerings

About You

• Proven experience as a Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef in a high-volume, quality-driven kitchen
• Passion for burgers, street food, or modern casual dining with a premium edge
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to build and motivate a team
• Creative flair and a keen eye for detail
• Commercial awareness and experience managing kitchen budgets
• Calm under pressure with a hands-on, lead-by-example approach
• Excited by the challenge of a new opening and building something from scratch
