A Band 7 Clinical Scientist position in the Clinical Transplantation Laboratory at the Royal London Hospital. This is a pivotal role within our dynamic team, supporting cutting-edge services in clinical transplantation and immunogenetics. The post qualifies for inner London weighting.The Laboratory is part of the NHS East and Southeast London Pathology Partnership, providing pathology services to Barts Health NHS Trusts. The laboratory supports adult and paediatric stem cell transplantation, adult kidney transplantation, and paediatric heart, lung and thymus transplantation, as well as immunogenetics services.Role Overview
The post requires a specialist practitioner in HandI who performs, analyses, interprets test results and prepares reports. The post holder will have delegated responsibility and will help in the day-to-day operation of either the Serology and Molecular sections, rotating between both. As a Band 7 HCPC Registered Healthcare/Clinical Scientist in HandI, the post holder will supervise teams of band 3–6 staff in the laboratory to perform, analyse, authorize, verify and report on a range of complex tests, providing training as required. With delegated responsibility, organise the day-to-day operation of the molecular and/or serology sections of the laboratory. Liaise with clinical units, providing highly specialized advice regarding further investigations and donor selection for transplant, etc.The post holder will undertake directed RandD projects including development, validation and implementation of new procedures. They will participate in CPD and maintain HCPC registration. The role includes participation in an on-call service in support of deceased donor transplant programs and deputising for the Head of Section as required.About us
