OverviewOur client, a Private Equity backed international Logistics business, is seeking a Qualified Group Financial Accountant to join their team in London. Working 3 days a week in the London office, the Group Accountant will be responsible for ownership of significant aspects of the Group and central service functions’ financial and management reporting. This is a critical position within the Group Finance team and will play a key role in driving improved process, analysis, insight and control within Group Finance and across the wider Group, working closely with the Group FC and Group FD.
Responsibilities
Monthly accounting close for Group companies including the review of balance sheet reconciliations
Ensure accurate and timely monthly reporting to internal and external stakeholders
Assist in the production of accurate budgets and forecasts for central service functions, working with the FPandA team to ensure that monthly performance against these measures is understood and explained
Preparation and review of weekly cash forecasts for Group companies
Act as a key point of contact between the finance department and business units, as well as external partners
Manage intercompany eliminations and reconciliations, working with the Treasury team to ensure that intercompany loans and interest payments are managed effectively
Lead and develop one direct report (Group Finance Analyst) mentoring and supporting them through the remainder of their ACCA programme
Oversee key finance processes, managing the Group Finance Analyst effectively to ensure that tasks such as invoice processing, payment runs, bank reconciliations, periodic VAT returns, employee expense payments etc. run smoothly
Undertake process improvement work with guidance from Group Financial Controller and Group Finance Director
Qualifications
ACA / ACCA Qualified Accountant
Could suit someone moving from Practice, or someone in Industry with technical experience
Strong financial acumen, with a strong understanding of financial principles, technical accounting and financial statements
Proficiency in IFRS accounting principles
Experience in multi-currency environments is an advantage but not essential
A good understanding of financial control environments and the ability to identify and drive through process improvements
