Functional Skills Mentor Support Young People Beyond the ClassroomWe''re looking for a Functional Skills Mentor to support children and young people across Hampshire through personalised 1:1 mentoring and practical learning support.Working on behalf of Local Authorities, you''ll help learners develop essential English and Maths skills while building confidence, independence, and engagement with education. This role is ideal for those who enjoy supporting young people in a less formal environment, focusing on motivation, personal development, and practical learning rather than traditional classroom teaching.Many of the learners you support will benefit from a trusted adult who can encourage positive routines, strengthen core skills, and help them overcome barriers to education.Location: HampshireRole: Functional Skills MentorStart Date: SeptemberHours: FlexiblePay Rate: 25- 30 per hourType: 1:1 Mentoring and Learning Support RequirementsMinimum 6 months'' experience in an educational setting, including mentoring, tutoring, teaching assistant, learning support, youth work, teaching, or similar rolesConfidence supporting Functional Skills English and MathsAbility to build positive and trusting relationships with young peopleStrong communication and interpersonal skillsPatient, supportive, and adaptable approachExperience supporting learners with SEND, EHCPs, or additional needs is desirableEnhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain oneDriver preferred; ..... full job details .....
