Fire Engineer

A specialist fire engineering consultancy is seeking an experienced Fire Engineer to join their team and support projects across Yorkshire. The successful Fire Engineer will work on a wide range of residential, commercial, education and mixed-use developments, providing technical fire safety input from early design through to completion.

The appointed Fire Engineer will work closely with architects, developers, contractors and wider design teams to deliver practical and compliant fire engineering solutions.

Responsibilities will include:

• Developing detailed fire strategies for new-build and existing properties

• Reviewing architectural plans and design proposals

• Advising on means of escape, fire resistance and compartmentation

• Providing technical guidance in line with Building Regulations and relevant standards

• Supporting projects through regulatory approval

• Preparing fire engineering reports and technical documentation

• Attending design meetings and liaising with key project stakeholders

• Providing technical support to junior team members where appropriate

The successful Fire Engineer will ideally have:

• A degree in Fire Engineering or a closely related discipline

• Experience working within a fire engineering or fire safety consultancy

• Strong knowledge of Approved Document B and relevant British Standards

• Experience producing fire strategies and technical reports

• Good understanding of UK fire safety legislation and regulatory requirements

• Strong communication and client-facing skills

• Membership of the IFE or progress towards chartership would be advantageous
