Field Service Engineer

Salary: £40,000–£50,000 + paid overtime + door-to-door pay

Location: South of England, covering territory from Cornwall to Essex, with a particular focus on the counties south of Reading, including Hampshire, Surrey, West Sussex, East Sussex, Wiltshire and Dorset. Candidates based anywhere across this southern region will be well placed to cover the role, with flexibility for UK-wide and occasional European travel as required.

About the Role

Our client is a leading distributor and engineering service provider, representing premium print finishing and packaging machinery manufacturers from continental Europe and the Far East. Due to sustained growth, they're seeking a Field Service Engineer to join their team.

You'll bring strong mechanical expertise from the print finishing, carton converting, or packaging machinery sectors and, in return, receive comprehensive manufacturing and electrical training to develop into a fully multidisciplinary engineer. You'll also join an established team covering neighbouring patches, so support and handover are already in place.

The Machinery

You'll work across a premium, cutting-edge equipment portfolio, including industrial die-cutters, folder-gluers, rigid box-making machinery and digital embellishment presses; automated packaging lines, flow-wrappers, case-erectors and conveyor systems; and wide-format digital printers, guillotines and high-volume folding and binding systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee installation and commissioning of high-end machinery, from off-loading to final handover
• Carry out precision mechanical fault-finding, emergency repairs and planned servicing
• Implement software upgrades and deliver hands-on training to help clients get the most from their machines
• Support customers across the territory, travelling as required to meet business needs

Key Requirements

• Proven field service or maintenance experience on print finishing, packaging or converting machinery
• Strong, demonstrable mechanical fault-finding and repair skills
• Full UK driving licence, with flexibility for regular overnight stays away from home during the week

Package & Benefits

• £40,000–£50,000 base (dependent on experience)
• Monday–Friday, 10-hour days, fully paid door-to-door, plus paid overtime
