Facilities Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

Ref: (phone number removed) Location: Colchester (CO4) Hours: Monday to Friday 8am-5pm Pay: £45,219 Role Overview We are seeking an experienced MandE Engineer with a strong mechanical bias to join our facilities team delivering planned and reactive maintenance across a busy university campus. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and servicing a variety of building services plant and equipment, ensuring statutory compliance, operational reliability, and a safe environment for staff, students and visitors. This role requires a qualified mechanical engineer with extensive experience in water hygiene management, plumbing systems, HVAC plant, pumps, and pressurisation equipment. The position will involve both hands-on maintenance activities and supporting compliance requirements relating to water systems. Deliver planned and reactive maintenance across mechanical building services plant. Perform servicing and inspections of pumps, expansion vessels and associated mechanical systems. Carry out water hygiene compliance activities in line with ACOP L8 requirements. Respond to breakdowns and restore plant operation efficiently. Complete maintenance records and statutory compliance documentation. Support continuous improvement of service delivery across the university estate.
