The Opportunity
An established engineering and manufacturing organisation is looking to appoint an experienced Facilities Engineering Manager to take responsibility for the strategic and operational management of its facilities, infrastructure and site services.
This is a senior leadership position focused on ensuring the site''s facilities operate safely, efficiently and in full compliance with statutory requirements while supporting a high performing manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will lead long term facilities planning, manage capital investment projects, oversee contractor performance and drive continuous improvement across the department.
The Role
The successful individual will be responsible for developing and delivering a long term facilities strategy that supports both operational performance and future business growth. They will ensure the effective day to day management of all site infrastructure, utilities and building services, maintaining high standards of reliability, compliance and operational efficiency.
Working closely with engineering, production and senior management teams, they will identify opportunities to improve facility performance, reduce downtime and support uninterrupted manufacturing operations. They will take ownership of capital investment projects from initial planning and budgeting through to successful delivery, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time and within budget.
The role also includes responsibility for managing external contractors and service providers, ensuring all work is completed to the required standards and in accordance with site procedures and statutory legislation. The successful candidate will oversee maintenance programmes, drive improvements within the Computerised Maintenance Management System and ensure effective asset management across the site.
A key aspect of the position is developing the facilities function through continuous improvement initiatives, coaching and supporting the team, strengthening maintenance processes and promoting a proactive approach to reliability, safety and operational excellence. Regular reporting on facilities performance, compliance, budgets and project progress will form part of the role, along with ensuring all facilities continue to meet current health, safety and environmental requirements.
About You
You will have previous experience leading facilities engineering within a manufacturing, industrial or engineering environment and will possess a strong understanding of statutory compliance, contractor management and site infrastructure.
You are likely to hold an HNC, HND or Degree in an Engineering or Building Services discipline or possess equivalent industry experience. Experience delivering capital expenditure projects, managing maintenance management systems and overseeing external contractors will be important, together with a practical understanding of preventative maintenance and asset management principles.
A recognised Health and Safety qualification such as NEBOSH would be advantageous, alongside knowledge of machinery safety, permit to work systems, isolation procedures and wider engineering compliance requirements.
Strong leadership, organisational and communication skills are essential, together with the ability to build relationships across the business and lead facilities improvement projects that enhance safety, efficiency and long term operational performance.
