Engineering Manager - Player Coach - Manchester - £80,000-£85,000 + 10% bonus We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead a talented software engineering team while remaining actively involved in technical design and software delivery. This is a player-coach role suited to an experienced Lead Developer, Technical Lead or Engineering Manager who enjoys developing people, solving complex technical problems and contributing directly to the development of modern software products. You will lead a team of Software Engineers, provide technical direction and work closely with Product, Architecture and other stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable and high-quality solutions. What you''ll be doing Lead, coach and support a team of Software Engineers through regular one-to-ones, feedback and development planning. Remain hands-on, contributing to software design, coding, testing and technical problem-solving. Provide technical leadership across applications built using Java and modern JavaScript technologies. Lead code reviews, solution design sessions and architectural discussions. Work closely with Product Managers and stakeholders to translate business requirements into practical technical solutions. Support the delivery of new features, system improvements and platform enhancements. Promote engineering best practices, including clean code, automated testing, CI/CD and secure development.
