Engineering Team Manager
to lead and develop our team of Technicians, ensuring the safe, reliable, and sustainable operation of the NET tram network.As a
people focused manager , you’ll play a key leadership role in creating a collaborative and high-performing environment. You’ll manage the performance, wellbeing, and competence of our Technicians while working closely with the Head of Engineering and Asset Managers to deliver both planned maintenance and engineering projects.Covering early, late, and night shifts across a 7-day operation, you’ll be at the heart of ensuring that our infrastructure maintenance is delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.Responsibilities
Leading, supporting, and developing a team of Technicians, Deputies, Assistants, and Apprentices.Overseeing roster management, job allocation, overtime, and resource planning for maintenance and projects.Managing staff performance, wellbeing, training, and competence.Building effective working relationships with Trade Union representatives.Conducting investigations into staff-related and non-technical incidents.Supporting Asset Managers with contractor management, inductions, and training delivery.Championing safety, compliance, and continuous improvement across engineering operations.What we’re looking for
Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to engage and inspire diverse teams.Basic engineering literacy, with the ability to understand schematics, technical instructions, and safe working practices.Proven experience in workforce planning, rostering, and performance management.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience of working with Trade Unions.Confidence in analysing data, making decisions, and driving business improvements.Integrity, professionalism, and a commitment to safety and continuous learning.Resilience and adaptability to manage a varied workload in a 24/7 operation.Supportive team environment with strong development focusBe a part of a company committed to technical excellence and safetyLead a talented and dedicated team, shaping the future of our engineering workforce.Play a vital role in delivering a safe and sustainable tram network for Nottingham.What’s in it for you?
