We're looking for an Electrical Engineer to join our Kier Places Workplace Solutions team.

Location: Colchester Primary Care Centre and Fryatt Hospital in Harwich
Hours: 40 hours per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.

We are unable to offer certificates of sponsorship to any candidates in this role.

As an Electrical Engineer, you'll play a vital role in maintaining the operational availability of our healthcare facilities. You'll be the first point of contact for reactive maintenance, ensuring our buildings remain safe and fully functional. Based at Colchester Primary Care Centre, you'll work collaboratively with the contract team to deliver exceptional service standards across both locations. This is an opportunity to make a real difference in healthcare facilities, where your expertise directly supports the wellbeing of patients and staff.

What will you be responsible for?

As an Electrical Engineer, you'll be working within the Facilities Management team, supporting them in delivering high-quality maintenance services across healthcare facilities. Your day to day will include:

  • Conducting planned preventative maintenance including emergency lighting testing, fire alarm activation testing, and generator testing
  • Responding to reactive electrical tasks, diagnosing faults and completing first-time fixes where possible
  • Recording all maintenance activities accurately on our CAFM system using digital devices
  • Supporting subcontractors through induction, monitoring their work quality and ensuring compliance with safety procedures
  • Participating in on-call duties (1 week in 3) to ensure continuous building operations

What are we looking for?

This role of Electrical Engineer is great for you if:

  • You hold a Level 3 qualification in Electrical Installations (such as C&G 236) and possess Inspection and Testing certification (C&G 2391-52, 18th Edition)
  • You have a Full driving licence and are comfortable travelling between sites
  • You're comfortable using digital systems and tablets to update work records and complete tasks
