A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an Electrical Bias Engineer to join a busy, highly automated manufacturing operation in Wrexham.
This is a hands-on engineering role working as part of an established engineering team, maintaining and improving automated production machinery and helping to maximise equipment reliability and minimise downtime.
The role will suit an experienced Maintenance Engineer with a strong electrical background and experience working within manufacturing, production, FMCG, packaging or another high-volume industrial environment.
The Role
You will be responsible for the planned and reactive maintenance of automated production equipment, with a strong focus on electrical fault finding and breakdown response.
Key responsibilities include:
Diagnosing and rectifying electrical faults on automated production machinery
Responding to electrical and mechanical breakdowns
Carrying out planned preventative and reactive maintenance
Fault finding across control systems, motors, sensors, drives and associated equipment
Working with PLC-controlled and automated machinery
Working with control panels, contactors, relays, inverters and variable speed drives
Carrying out electrical testing, repairs and component replacement
Supporting machinery modifications, improvements and continuous improvement activity
Working alongside Production to minimise downtime
Completing maintenance records and engineering documentation
Carrying out mechanical maintenance and adjustments where required
Working safely and in accordance with site procedures
The Engineering Environment
Experience with the following would be highly advantageous:
PLC-controlled machinery
Electrical control panels
Motors and motor control
Inverters / VSDs
Sensors and proximity switches
Contactors and relays
Safety circuits and interlocks
Automated production machinery
Conveyors and material handling equipment
Packaging machinery
Pneumatic and hydraulic systems
Mechanical power transmission
Robotics or automated handling equipment
You don''t need to be a PLC programmer, but you must be confident using electrical fault-finding techniques to diagnose faults and get production equipment back up and running.
The Person
We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Engineer with a clear electrical bias and genuine production maintenance experience.
Ideally, you will have:
Previous Maintenance Engineering experience within manufacturing or production
A strong electrical engineering background
Proven electrical fault-finding experience
Experience maintaining automated production machinery
Experience carrying out planned and reactive maintenance
Good knowledge of industrial electrical systems
Good mechanical maintenance knowledge
The ability to diagnose faults logically and work effectively under pressure
A recognised engineering qualification, apprenticeship or equivalent experience
Experience within FMCG, food, packaging, plastics, logistics, converting or another highly automated manufacturing environment would be particularly relevant.
