The Opportunity

Barnsley College is seeking an ambitious and passionate Electrical Course Leader to join our highly successful Engineering department. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and develop our Electrical Installation provision, delivering high-quality programmes across full-time study programmes and adult courses at Levels 2 and 3.

As a Course Leader, you will play a key role in shaping the learner journey, ensuring students receive an outstanding educational experience that prepares them for successful careers within the electrical industry. You will be responsible for leading course delivery, driving student achievement, promoting excellent attendance and retention, and ensuring learners develop the technical skills, knowledge and behaviours demanded by employers.

Working closely with the Programme Manager and wider Engineering team, you will contribute to curriculum planning, quality improvement and the development of innovative teaching and learning strategies. You will also have the opportunity to support the growth of the department by helping develop new courses and curriculum initiatives that respond to industry demand and skills shortages.

About You

You will be a motivated and learner-focused individual with strong technical expertise in Electrical Installation and a genuine passion for developing the workforce of tomorrow.

You will have experience teaching Electrical Installation and be confident in delivering engaging lessons that challenge, inspire and motivate learners to achieve their full potential. You will also have the ability to support curriculum development, monitor learner progress and implement strategies that improve attendance, retention and achievement.

We''re looking for someone who is highly organised, proactive and able to build positive relationships with learners, colleagues and industry partners. You will be committed to maintaining high standards, embracing innovation and contributing to the continued success and growth of our Engineering department.

Required

  • Teaching qualification Teaching qualification (must be willing to work towards Level 6 PGCE if not already held)
  • Relevant Level 3 qualification in Electrical Installation
  • GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent Level 2 qualification)
  • Experience teaching a range of Electrical Installation subjects
  • Minimum of two years'' relevant experience within an educational setting or the electrical industry
  • Strong understanding of learner support, achievement and progression
  • Excellent communication, organisational and IT skills
  • A commitment to delivering outstanding teaching, learning and assessment
  • A positive, resilient and professional approach with a strong focus on learner success
