Morgan Ryder Associates is recruiting for an exciting opportunity with a growing manufacturing business, seeking an experienced HSE professional to take ownership of Health, Safety & Environmental across two UK sites.

This is a hands-on, shop-floor focused role, ideal for someone who enjoys being visible, influencing teams and turning HSE standards into everyday behaviours. Around 75% of your time will be spent on the shop floor, supporting approximately 260 employees across two sites in Burnley. The business operates within the aerospace sector through precision manufacturing and has grown exponentially in recent years.

This is currently a standalone HSE position, giving the successful candidate significant autonomy and ownership of the HSE function. As the business continues to grow, there is a clear expectation that the role will develop into a small HSE team, with the opportunity to build and manage one HSE team member in the near future.

The Role

You''ll take ownership of HSE across both sites, working closely with operational leaders to drive standards and develop a proactive safety culture, including:

• Conducting risk assessments, audits and site inspections
• Investigating accidents, incidents and near misses
• Driving root-cause analysis and corrective actions
• Advising on high-risk activities, equipment and processes
• Supporting permit-to-work, chemical and specialist manufacturing controls
• Delivering inductions, toolbox talks and HSE training
• Improving PPE compliance and safe working practices
• Maintaining HSE records, statistics and management systems
• Supporting legislative compliance and liaison with the HSE and other external bodies
• Coaching and influencing employees and managers across both sites
• Developing and implementing HSE policies, procedures and improvement plans
• Monitoring HSE performance and reporting key information to senior management
• Identifying opportunities to continually improve HSE standards across the business
• Taking the lead on the development of the HSE function as the business continues to grow
• Supporting the recruitment and development of a small HSE team, initially expected to include one additional team member

About You

You''ll ideally have solid HSE experience within a manufacturing, engineering or similarly high-risk environment, with a strong understanding of risk assessments, incident investigation, legislation and safety culture improvement.

NEBOSH or IOSH is preferred, but significant practical experience will be considered.

The business is also open to supporting the right person through further qualifications and professional development.

We''re looking for someone who can operate autonomously and take ownership of the HSE agenda, while also being practical, confident and comfortable on the shop floor. You''ll need to be someone who can build relationships, challenge standards appropriately and get things done.

This would suit an experienced HSE professional who is looking for the autonomy of a standalone role, combined with the opportunity to develop and lead a small HSE function as the business grows.
