The Opportunity
The UK nuclear decommissioning sector is entering an exciting period of investment and delivery, creating long-term opportunities for Electrical, Control and Instrumentation professionals across a wide range of projects and facilities.
Working within highly regulated environments, you will play a key role in developing and delivering engineering solutions that support hazard reduction, waste retrieval, facility upgrades, plant modifications and decommissioning operations.
Opportunities are available across the full project lifecycle, including concept design, detailed design, installation, commissioning, operation and asset care.
Typical Responsibilities
Depending on your level of experience, responsibilities may include:
- Producing EC&I design documentation, calculations and technical specifications.
- Developing electrical, control and instrumentation solutions for complex engineering challenges.
- Supporting or leading engineering design reviews and technical assessments.
- Preparing and reviewing system architectures, cable schedules, loop drawings and control philosophies.
- Delivering modifications and upgrades to existing nuclear facilities and infrastructure.
- Supporting commissioning, testing and handover activities.
- Ensuring compliance with nuclear safety, quality and engineering standards.
- Managing technical interfaces with clients, project teams and supply chain partners.
- Supporting configuration management, design substantiation and engineering governance processes.
- Leading engineering teams and mentoring junior engineers.
- Contributing to project planning, risk management and technical assurance activities.

Essential Requirements
- Experience working within EC&I engineering roles in regulated industries.
- Strong understanding of engineering design principles and lifecycle delivery.
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality and technical excellence.
Desirable Experience
- Nuclear decommissioning or nuclear operations experience.
- Knowledge of engineering standards and governance requirements within regulated environments.
- Experience supporting projects for organisations such as Sellafield Ltd, Nuclear Waste Services, National Nuclear Laboratory or other major nuclear operators and contractors.
- Experience with safety cases, configuration management and design substantiation.
- Chartered status or working towards professional accreditation.
Qualifications
- Degree, HNC, HND or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering or a related discipline.
- Relevant professional memberships and industry certifications are advantageous.
