About the Role:
As a Disability Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and support staff to provide one-to-one or small group support for students with a range of disabilities. You will play an important role in helping students access the curriculum, develop life skills, and achieve their potential in a safe and nurturing environment.
Responsibilities:
- Support students with disabilities in accessing classroom learning and school activities.
- Assist teachers in adapting resources and lessons to meet individual needs.
- Provide one-to-one or small group support to encourage academic and social development.
- Encourage independence and confidence in students while offering guidance.
- Collaborate with staff, parents, and external professionals to ensure consistent support for students.
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers and senior staff.
Requirements:
- CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare, Teaching Assistance, or equivalent qualification.
- A degree in Psychology, SEN, Counselling or a similar field is desirable but not mandatory.
- Experience working with children with disabilities in an educational setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to supporting students.
- A genuine passion for helping children with disabilities achieve their full potential.
