Position: Design Engineer (Mechanical)
Location: Stockton-on-Tees
Salary: Circa -45k dependant on experience

Mechanical Design Engineer required for a well-established engineering company based in Stockton-on-Tees. Our client designs and manufactures specialist equipment and engineering solutions for a range of industries and is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join their growing team.

The successful candidate will play a key role in the design and development of innovative mechanical systems and components, supporting projects from concept through to manufacture.

Mechanical Design Engineer Position Overview

• Designing and developing mechanical components, assemblies, and systems using SolidWorks and CAD software
• Producing detailed engineering drawings, schematics, and manufacturing documentation
• Carrying out design calculations and structural analysis to support engineering solutions
• Performing root cause analysis and troubleshooting of design and product issues
• Collaborating with manufacturing, project, and engineering teams to ensure designs meet technical and commercial requirements
• Supporting product development activities from concept through to production
• Assisting with continuous improvement initiatives across products and processes
• Ensuring all designs comply with relevant engineering standards and company procedures

Mechanical Design Engineer Position Requirements

• Previous experience in a Mechanical Design Engineer position
• Degree or HNC in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
• Proficient in SolidWorks and CAD software
• Experience producing engineering drawings and technical schematics
• Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and system design
• Ability to undertake engineering calculations and structural assessments
• Experience carrying out root cause analysis and fault-finding activities
• Working knowledge of SolidWorks Simulation (FEA) would be advantageous, although training can be provided
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Mechanical Design Engineer Position Remuneration

• Salary: Circa -45,000, dependent upon experience and qualifications
• Performance-related bonus structure
• Monday to Thursday: 8:00am - 4:30pm
• Friday: 8:00am - 3:30pm
• 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
