Deputy Head of Legal

We are currently partnering with a Local Authority in the Midlands, who are recruiting for a Deputy Head of Legal Services to join their growing team on a four month (minimum) locum basis. This is a fully remote, full-time position with a rate of circa up £90 p/h (umbrella) and the start date is subject to notice. Duties will include (but are not limited to): Managing the Property and Contract legal teams and ensuring a high level of legal support from those teams to and across the Council Directly line managing a team of 3 direct reports (2 Principal Solicitors and an Information Manager) with 8 staff reporting into them Providing direct support to a specialist locum dealing with the Council''s waste contract agreement Working with the Monitoring Officer to ensure excellent governance arrangements are in place, continuously monitoring governance, assisting with preparation of the annual governance statement and identifying opportunities for improvement Ensuring that effective legal advice, within the areas of responsibility, is available to the Council, the Cabinet, committees, sub-committees, panels and working groups Experience required: Experience required within Local Government Experience managing legal professionals Rewards and Benefits: Remote working Flexible working days Working hours: 37 hours per week Monday - Friday, flexible start/finish times Please note that you require recent experience to apply for this role.
