The closing date is 26 October 2025We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic consultant psychiatrist to join our CAMHS team in Kingston. The postholder will join 12 CAMHS Consultants within the Trust Service Line. This post is offered as an 8PA substantive post in the Kingston Tier 3 CAMHS service and ADHD clinic. This post has become available due to a resignation.The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) Directorate of Southwest London and St George''s Mental Health NHS Trust is a well-established provider of mental health services to the boroughs of Richmond, Sutton, Kingston, Merton and Wandsworth.The local Kingston CAMHS team is highly specialist comprising of family therapy, psychology, nursing, non-medical prescribers and administration staff. The team has access to trust wide services such as the DBT group program, eating disorder service, emergency services covering the 3 acute hospitals served by the Trust and a Learning Disability Service together with a Deaf Service and a Neurodevelopmental Team.Main duties of the job

This is an exciting opportunity to join a busy, mature service to provide both medical and psychological treatment for individuals and families with severe mental health needs and neurodevelopmental needs. There will also be opportunities for the post holder to lead on service development in line with Trust principles and governed by national standards.The post is within a multidisciplinary team providing a community service and has close links with local authority, education, and the wider borough structure. The post holder will be joining a skilled, motivated, and innovative multidisciplinary team committed to continual learning and development and will be offered excellent CPD opportunities.About us

QUALIFICATIONS and ELIGIBILITY

MB BS or equivalent medical qualificationFully registered with the GMC with a license to practice at the time of appointment.Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months.Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment.Approved under S12 OR able to achieve with 3 months of appointmentQualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research, or managementAdditional clinical qualifications.In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practiceCLINICAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE and EXPERIENCE

Exceptional knowledge in specialty, especially the assessment and management of children and adolescents with a range of mental health difficulties.Excellent clinical skills using bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledgeExcellent oral and written communication skills in EnglishAble to manage clinical complexity and uncertaintyMakes decisions based on evidence and experience including the contribution of othersAble to meet duties under MHA and MCAWide range of specialist and sub-specialist experience relevant to post within NHS or comparable service.Experience in managing ADHD.Training in specialist assessments tools, e.g., 3Di, ADOS etc.ACADEMIC SKILLS and LIFELONG LEARNING

Able to deliver undergraduate or postgraduate teaching and trainingAbility to work in and lead a teamDemonstrate commitment to shared leadership and collaborative working to deliver improvement.Participated in continuous professional developmentParticipated in research or service evaluation.Able to use and appraise clinical evidenceHas actively participated in clinical audit and quality improvement programmesAble to plan and deliver undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training relevant to this postReflected on purpose of CPD undertakenExperienced in clinical research and / or service evaluation.Evidence of achievement in education, research, audit, and service improvement: awards, prizes, presentations, and publications.Has led clinical audits leading to service change or improved outcomes to patientsDisclosure and Barring Service Check
