This is an NHS post comprising 10 PAs per week. The post holder will join the multidisciplinary team delivering paediatric and adolescent rheumatology within Birmingham, the West Midlands and beyond. There are 7.75 Direct Clinical Care PAs (including a 1 in 5 on call commitment which attracts 0.25 PA per on call week), and 2.25 supporting professional activities, including educational lead and educational supervision. The post holder will be a dedicated paediatric and adolescent rheumatology specialist who will provide the clinical rheumatology service at BWCH and proactively support the education and clinical research programmes within the department.Main duties of the job

The primary purpose of this post is to provide a comprehensive clinical rheumatology service with the other NHS consultants and MDT.The appointee will be employed by Birmingham Women’s and Children’s Hospital, and as such will be accountable to that Trust for appraisal, job planning, annual leave and study leave. The appointee is expected to be trained in paediatric and adolescent rheumatology and be skilled in intra-articular injections.Clinically, he or she will share in the provision of the outpatient and inpatient service for paediatric and adolescent rheumatology (including a category B 1 in 5 oncall commitment at BCH) and provide inpatient advice for other specialties when requested. At BWCH, out of hours care is provided by the Hospital at Night team and at UHCW by the General Paediatric Team.The appointee will attend and contribute to the specialised clinics at BWCH, including lupus, juvenile dermatomyositis, and scleroderma.Clinics undertaken at BWCH will predominantly be jointly undertaken with other consultants and with the MDT. They will be a mixture of general and adolescent clinics. At BCH there is a dedicated weekly adolescent clinic, which facilitates developmentally appropriate care and transfer to adult services.Working for our organisation

Eligible for GMC registration / Eligible for inclusion on Specialist Register or be within 6 months of CCT date.At least 2 years’ training in Paediatric Rheumatology within the UK national grid scheme or equivalent skills attainedCLINICAL EXPERIENCE

MDT working and experience of inpatient and outpatient paediatrics / paediatric Rheumatology.Level 3 Child protection trainingSpecific adolescent rheumatology experienceCLINICAL SKILLS
